The 2024 World Grappling Championship has begun

The World Grappling Championship 2024 has begun in the Palace of Martial Arts named after Zh. Ushkempirov. More than 1,800 participants from 30 countries take part in the competition. The championship will be held in Grappling and Grappling Gi among all age groups - U15, U17, U20, adults and veterans.

"Grappling has now truly become a mass sport. It is developing under the auspices of the international wrestling federation United World Wrestling, which is one of the oldest reputable sports organizations in the world and recognized by the International Olympic Committee," said Kanat Alin, President of the Grappling Association of the Republic of Kazakhstan, head coach of the national grappling team of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

It should be noted that the capital will host the World Cup for the third time. In 2018, for the first time, the World Grappling Championship was held in Astana. In 2019, he entered the program of the World Olympic Championships in such sports as Greco-Roman and women's freestyle wrestling. The capital of Kazakhstan has also hosted the Asian Championship twice in 2017 and 2023.
